  • Overview

    The Category Director is responsible for one of the largest categories for Pepperjam, as well as managing a team of Category Specialists. This individual is expected to demonstrate how to own and truly develop a category while acting as a support for their team as needed. With 25% of the Category Directors variable compensation attributed to the success of their team, he/she will be responsible for the performance management of the Category Specialists under them.  This individual will report directly to the Head of Sales.   

    Responsibilities

    • Achieve monthly and quarterly revenue goals as defined and communicated by Head of Sales
    • Grow their category(s) consistently and responsibly YoY
    • Own the high-level P&L for their teams’ categories, including but not limited to churn rates, CPA, and NPS
    • Hiring of new Category Specialists and building thoughtful data driven proposals to request new headcount
    • Performance manage Category Specialists to help them deliver to the best of their ability
    • Sitting in and participating in their teams’ client pitches where required
    • Pre-qualifying and leading new advertiser RFP’s
    • Responsible for, and confident in pitching to executives at large targeted advertisers with annual turnovers of between $5MM and +$100MM
    • Proactively prospect new clients that fit Pepperjam’s ideal client profile
    • Responsibly prepare new clients so that they can successfully launch and manage their affiliate program
    • Source/recommend/sell solutions for clients who do not have the resources to manage their affiliate program
    • Maintain first class knowledge of affiliate and the Pepperjam network by partaking in internal training and external industry webinars, events and any other available activities
    • Complete and pass frequent internal product knowledge exams
    • Own and develop (with the help of marketing) all category specific collateral as it pertains to pitch decks, white papers, case studies, benchmarks, and anything else relevant for their teams’ success
    • Provide expert product demonstrations accompanied by strategic suggestions as it attains to the clients’ needs
    • Attend trade shows and present themselves as professionals and ambassadors of Pepperjam

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher
    • A basic understanding of standard IAB terms
    • A deep understanding of the specific assigned categories and e-commerce
    • At least 5+ years’ experience in sales and selling to large online retailers
    • Previous experience in digital marketing and preferably affiliate marketing
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
    • Confident with public speaking and presentations
    • Analytically literate with an eye for detail
    • Customer centric and passionate about client success
