The Staff Accountant is responsible for analyzing financial information and performing a variety of accounting duties associated with the timely and accurate preparation and reporting of financial data, in accordance with applicable accounting, industry, regulatory and institutional principles and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist manager with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting/Finance Department.
  • Prepare account analyses and reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, prepaids, intercompany, payroll and other accruals, on a timely basis.
  • Manage billing process for assigned accounts and ensure bills are prepared in accordance with contractual terms.
  • Accounting for recognition of revenue and related reporting of various revenue streams.
  • Ensure routine journal entries are prepared in accordance with monthly closing calendar.
  • Utilize accounting knowledge, judgment and reconciliation tools to identify transactions requiring non-routine journal entries.
  • Make recommendations for adjusting journal entries and appropriately escalate issues of significance to manager in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure workpapers and supporting documentation for journal entries are accurate and in-line with GAAP and company standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements, management reporting and other ad-hoc requests.
  • Document existing processes and make appropriate recommendations for ways to improve current procedures and/or processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in accounting required.
  • Ideally two to four years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
  • Strong Excel skills with an ability to manipulate large data sets using excel tools such as vlookups and pivot tables.
  • General Ledger system experience – preferably Netsuite
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
